  1 2 3 Final
Northeastern 2 1 1 4
UMass-Amherst 1 0 1 2

Northeastern got back on the winning track with two goals in the first period and a little bit of luck.  In the first meeting between the Minutemen and the Huskies this season, the dogs played much better than they did against UMass-Lowell the previous week.  In fact, it was probably the best overall game for each player on the team.

Northeastern got on the scoreboard first at 2:57 of the first period when John Peterman slapped a routine clearing shot into the UMass zone.  The puck deflected off a defenseman's stick and wobbled past Minuteman goalie Markus Helanen for the unassisted goal.  The stunned goalie was about fifteen feet out of the net into the slot, but he just never picked up the shot.  At 11:55 Ryan Dudgeon (Matt Keating, Joe Mastronardi) put the dogs out in front by two.  UMass answered with a goal at 17:28 when Martin Miljko (Kris Wallis) scored against Mike Gilhooly.  Four NU players skating in the UMass zone intentionally did not touch the puck to avoid an off-sides call.  However, when a UMass player did touch the puck, Miljko was sent off the the races one-on-one against 'Hooly.  Miljko didn't make his move until he was right on top of 'Hooly.

In the second period, at 1:54, Willie Levesque (Jim Fahey) scored the eventual game winner.

By the time the third period rolled arond, the Huskies had things well in hand. At 2:08, Chris Lynch took a feed from Willie Levesque and Trevor Reschny, swept around the back of the net and scooped the puck past Helanen for the insurance goal.  Thomas Pock (Kris Wallis, Brad Nizwantowski) would score one last goal for the Minutemen.  Northeastern took the 4-2 win in front of a dwindling crowd of 2750 and each team had 35 shots on net.

Let's go Huskies.
